Boat tours from Tivat

Tivat is where Marea lives. Her berth at Porto Montenegro is in the price, which is not true of any other departure point on this coast, and both of the routes worth taking start from the same pontoon: east into the Bay of Kotor towards Perast and Kotor, or west out of the bay towards the Blue Cave. Four hours is €2,600 for the whole yacht.

Two directions, one pontoon

The choice is made the evening before, on the weather and on what your group is after.

  • East · 4–8 hours

    Into the bay

Kamenari and the oyster farms, Our Lady of the Rocks, Perast, Kotor from the water, cold springs at Dobrota. Sheltered on almost any wind.

  • West · 6–8 hours

    Out to the Blue Cave

Submarine tunnels in the Luštica cliffs, Mamula, the cave in the 11–12 light window, a long swim at Žanjic. Two hours each way.

  • South · 8–12 hours

    Down the coast

Trašte, Plavi Horizont, Bigova and as far as Budva. Long, and better as an overnight than as a single day.

Why starting in Tivat is cheaper than it looks

Boat rental out of Tivat begins and ends at the same pontoon, and that is what makes it cheaper than it looks. Every charter carries a berth cost and a fuel cost, and both are decided by where the boat sleeps. Marea sleeps at Porto Montenegro, so there is no delivery leg to pay for and no port fee added at the end — the mooring is already in the rate.

Charters that start in Kotor, Budva or Herceg Novi are all possible, and we do them. But the boat has to get there, and either that time comes out of your day or the positioning is arranged in advance. That is the whole reason we ask where you are staying before quoting a date.

Tivat is also the closest departure point on this coast to the airport, which makes it the one you can reach on the morning of your charter without building a transfer into the plan.

What people usually ask

Where exactly do you board in Tivat?

Porto Montenegro, which is Marea's home berth. You get the pontoon number when the booking is confirmed; the mooring itself is included in the charter price.

How far is Tivat airport from the marina?

A short drive — Porto Montenegro is the closest marina on this coast to the airport, and the only departure point you can reasonably reach on the morning of the charter.

Which direction should we take?

East into the bay for places and history, west for open water and the Blue Cave. If the wind is south-easterly the captain will steer you east, because the inner bay is sheltered when the open coast is not.

How much is a boat tour from Tivat?

€2,600 for four hours, €2,800 for six and €3,000 for eight — the whole yacht with captain and steward, up to 16 guests.

Can we go to the Blue Cave in four hours?

No. It is two hours each way, so four hours would be the passage and nothing else. Six is the minimum and eight is what we would take.
